At Simple Choice Home Improvement, we recently completed a front door repair in Corona, Queens NY where the homeowner noticed cold air entering the home and rising energy costs. The door looked normal from the outside, but every time it closed there were noticeable air gaps around the threshold and frame.

Why Front Doors Become Drafty

Drafty Front Door Repair – Corona Queens NY

After inspection, we discovered that the door frame had loosened over time. The rough framing behind the jamb was no longer stable, which caused slight movement when opening and closing the door.

Even small movement can lead to:

• Air leaks/ Drafty

• Poor sealing

• Door misalignment

• Higher heating and cooling costs

• Front door air leak repair Queens

In this case, the threshold was not seated properly and the original anchors holding the frame to the brick opening had weakened. Drafty Front Door Repair – Corona Queens NY

How We Repaired the Door and Stopped the Draft.

To solve the issue correctly, our team performed a structural repair instead of a temporary fix.

We:

• Removed the unstable frame components

• Installed a new reinforced door jamb

• Secured the frame with heavy-duty masonry anchors

• Added cement support under the threshold

• Installed insulation to block air penetration

• Applied waterproof sealing and caulking

This process created a tight, solid installation designed to prevent air leaks long-term.

Why Proper Door Installation Matters in Queens NY

Drafty doors are more than just an inconvenience. Over time, they can increase energy bills and allow moisture to enter the home.

A professionally installed front door should:

• Close securely with no movement

• Seal tightly against outdoor air

• Improve comfort indoors

• Increase energy efficiency

• Protect against future moisture damage

Homeowners in Corona Queens, Brooklyn, and Nassau County often experience these issues due to age and weather exposure.

I chose this business because of the good reviews I read. William came to my house very promptly the next day. He immediately saw my storm door had been installed very poorly, he was very professional, he explained to me what needed to be done to correct the problem, he let me decide what I wanted to have done. The end result was a job excellently done, my doors look and operate beautifully. I will not hesitate to use his door service in the future. I highly recommend him.
Due to the excellent work William did for me in the past, I’m having him do extensive home improvement for me. He’s a master general contractor, his work is meticulous and detailed, he’s doing exterior and interior work in my house. He has the ability to bring your on ideas to a new level of beauty. I give William, his son Alex, and the other worker for him an A+.

William is a true professional and lifesaver! He took time to assess a potential project when many other contractors wouldn't give us the time of day. That project did not work out, but his professionalism stood out so much that he was our first call when we were ready to proceed with two bathroom remodels. We get so many compliments on the new bathrooms. His workmanship, professionalism, promptness and attention to detail and quality are second to none. Worth every penny. The new bathrooms feel like they've brought up the value of our home so much. We'll be calling him when we're ready for the next remodel!

I really enjoyed working with William and team. They completed a full bathroom renovation and also provided additional services as replacing some broke tiles, adding doors, etc. Everything was done beautifully and in a timely manner. William was also very responsive and let us know in advance on timing updates. He is also very educated and noticed a drainage issue left by the past owners, and helped us fixed the issue. I appreciate all of his hard work and will be using him in the future for any work.
